Question 3 is a lovely question as you should be able to assess how many marks you have achieved with a straight forward review.
The question is in two parts. Both parts ask you to look at the passages and summarise them separately. This part of the question is out of 15 with an additional 5 makes for spelling, punctuation and grammar. This advice focuses on the 15 marks available.
If question 3(a) and 3(b) are worth 15 collectively then you need to find an equal number for each part. If we set 8 as a minimum then we're covering our backs. This means you need to find eight points to remark on for both 3(a) and 3(b) (I know this makes 16).
3(a) will ask you to comment on one particular passage and remark on an aspect of this passage. Read through and highlight or underline each item that qualifies. Remember you are looking for at least 8 things to comment on.
Once you have found eight (you may find more) begin your answer in full sentences.
When you have finished read back through and make sure you have used at least eight.
3(b) as above, read the relevant passage and highlight, or underline, items that you have been asked to include in your summary. Find at least 8.
Once you have found eight begin your summary and check through at the end. You may include more than 8 for (a) and (b) and this is fine as long as you stick to the one side of writing requirement (allowing for hand-writing).
Once you have finished both (a) and (b) read your work through checking capital letters, punctuation, spelling and grammar. There are five marks available, you will restrict yourself if you are making simple errors and not fixing them. Attempt to impress by using a range of sentence types, semi-colons, brackets etc.
